Help us create the ultimate dining experience in Melbourne, that is anything but Standard! You will of course be passionate about service and be a host to our guests adding a touch of personality. Work alongside the Restaurant Manager, managing the restaurant and ensuring all runs smoothly; you will be coaching and developing the team and ensuring they receive the correct training. You will be interacting with your guests; handling their requests, needs and inquiries, and most importantly ensuring they leave with a smile on their face.
Responsibilities
- Help coordinate the day-to-day restaurant and monitor overall service delivery across the department and ensure that all team members follow the order of service correctly.
- Act as our ambassador by meeting, greeting and hosting our guests whilst they dine with us in order build the restaurant identity, brand and presence within the local community.
- Assume responsibilities for the Restaurant team in the absence of the Food and Beverage Manager to ensure the consistent delivery of service concepts, products and up selling opportunities.
- Lead and direct the restaurant team during service.
- Display a passionate, fun, and enthusiastic approach to work in order to inspire and motivate junior members of the team, creating an enjoyable, cohesive and supportive working environment to work within
- Foster good working relationships across all Hotel departments in order to encourage inter department support, creative thinking.
- Be knowledgeable of and operate within appropriate outlet and Hotel liquor licensing guidelines and management policies.
- Maintain currency of RSA certification, amendments and updates and adhere to RSA principles.
- Ensure all OH&S requirements are adhered to and ensure all health or safety hazards or incidents are reported in a timely manner.
Experience, Qualifications & Skills
- Experience with POS systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Knowledge and experience with food safety and safe work practices and legislation.
- Have a passion for delivering exceptional dining experiences and know it’s so much more than just a plated dish or a drink in a glass!
- Impeccable grooming and presentation.
- Excellent time management skills and the ability to adapt and personalize guest experiences.
- Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to keep calm under pressure.
- And most importantly – possess a great, energetic work ethic and a vision and passion to build a fantastic team environment.

Job Purpose:
To coordinate and manage the marketing objectives of StandardX, Melbourne within Standard branding guidelines and allocated budgets. The Marketing Manager at StandardX is a hands-on role responsible for driving local area marketing initiatives from concept to activation. The role focuses on collaborating with local partners and suppliers to create dynamic, meaningful events that align with the brand pillars of design, architecture, food, fashion, music, and community. The successful candidate will represent the brand with both style and substance, embodying the hotel’s leadership culture with professionalism, energy, and flair—less pomp, more panache.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Hands-On Execution: Lead the development and execution of local marketing initiatives, from concept through to on-the-ground activation, ensuring all projects are delivered on time and to the highest standard.
- F&B Marketing Focus: Create and rollout end-to-end marketing strategies across earned, owned and organic channels, ensuring the hotels venues remain top of mind for locals and guests alike.
- Event Collaboration: Work closely with local partners to design and deliver events such as food and wine dinners, live jazz performances, and DJ nights, ensuring these reflect the spirit of the StandardX brand.
- Brand Representation: Act as a brand ambassador, embodying the values of StandardX in style and demeanor. Be a role model for team members, fostering a leadership culture that combines professionalism with fun and energy.
- Graphic Design and Collateral: Create and manage in-house marketing collateral and messaging using design tools (Adobe Suite or similar), ensuring that all materials meet brand guidelines and resonate with the local market.
- Partnership Management: Build and nurture relationships with local suppliers, businesses, and community organizations to enhance guest experiences and drive foot traffic to the hotel.
- Music and Event Programming: Coordinate live entertainment, from vinyl DJ sets to live jazz, curating a lineup that reflects the cultural heartbeat of Melbourne and the Standard Hotels brand.
- Collaboration with Leadership: Report directly to the Director of Sales & Marketing and work closely with the General Manager to ensure local strategies align with the hotel’s broader objectives.
- Active Presence: Be present at events, activations, and campaigns, ensuring seamless execution and providing support as needed to guarantee successful outcomes.
- Professionalism with Panache: Demonstrate a strong work ethic, high energy, and an engaging, approachable manner, fostering an environment that values creativity, fun, and performance.
- Social media and Communication: Assist in shaping the hotel’s social media presence to reflect local events and partnerships, creating buzz and driving engagement.
- Alignment with Central Marketing: Work in tandem with the Standard Marketing teams to ensure local strategies are in line with brand-wide initiatives.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Skills: Experience with Brand communication with strong digital capabilities, strategic digital communication and database strategy skills.
- Marketing Expertise: Proven experience in hospitality or lifestyle marketing, with a focus on local area marketing and event management.
- Hands-On Approach: Ability to manage projects from start to finish, being actively involved in all aspects from creative ideation to execution.
- Creative & Resourceful: Skilled in graphic design and adept at using tools such as Adobe Creative Suite or similar software to produce high-quality, on-brand collateral.
- Relationship Builder: Strong interpersonal skills and ability to form lasting partnerships with local businesses, artists, and suppliers.
- Dynamic Personality: Energetic, fun, and professional, with a positive attitude and a creative flair.
- Cultural Awareness: Passion for Melbourne’s food, fashion, music, and design scene, with a clear understanding of how to engage with the local community.
